Two part Welsh dresser with two full width drawers. Hand planed wood, wooden nails, and irregular dovetails on drawers suggest that this piece dates from the late 18th to early 19th centuries. The upper portion may be later. Center, front leg removed at some earlier time. The vestigal presence of this center leg further suggests an early, rural period piece.
The three shelves (each featuring a lip for the display of plates) can accommodate all of your barware. Lovely gently curved legs on pad feet with brass pulls. Dark, rich patina. Rustic and refined.
Label of John Maggs, School Lane, Liverpool, England, on back of top drawer. John Maggs, cabinet maker and antiques purveyor, operated from the School Lane address from 1900 through World War II.
